Why Join The String of Pearls Now?
Following the death of Pearl Bamford in 2019 aged 19, her parents Rose & Johnny felt compelled to assist the younger generation of North Cornwall and Devon to build more positive futures. Having supported Pearl through her struggles, Johnny and Rose witnessed firsthand the deep lack of support, guidance, and hope facing her generation. Her passing brought into sharp focus the urgent need for positive, creative opportunities and meaningful community connection, so we can come together, uplift one another, and build a more supportive future.
We believe that this is the time to invest in and grow our community – to work harder to make sure that young people are not left behind or excluded from opportunities to grow and thrive. We use the arts, wellness and culture as our medium to engage and educate, attracting people to join our creative, holistic programme and then support them to progress to the next stages of their chosen path in life, offering one-to-one counselling for those most in need.
