Every great podcast starts with a great idea. In this opening session with podcast producer Sophie King, we will discover what makes podcasts so compelling by exploring different genres, analysing what keeps audiences listening, and learning about the roles involved in bringing a show to life.

In the sessions that follow, we’ll shape our own ideas into a podcast series for The Pearl Exchange, build confidence presenting and interviewing, and gain an understanding of the complete production process, from research and scripting to recording and editing. By the end of these workshops you’ll hopefully not only know what makes the biggest shows successful but you’ll have the skills to start making one yourself.
Sophie is an experienced podcast producer who has worked on some of the UK’s biggest shows, including Dish from Waitrose, Happy Place, No Such Thing As A Fish and Shagged Married Annoyed. She works across the entire process, from developing ideas and formats to editing and release.
