ABOUT THE EXCHANGE — ABOUT THE EXCHANGE — ABOUT THE EXCHANGE — ABOUT THE EXCHANGE — ABOUT THE EXCHANGE — ABOUT THE EXCHANGE —

The Pearl Exchange.

Following the death of Pearl Bamford in 2019 aged 19, her parents Rose & Johnny felt compelled to assist the younger generation of North Cornwall and Devon and help them build more positive futures. Having helped Pearl through her struggles Johnny and Rose have experienced first-hand the lack of support, direction and hope for her generation and her death highlighted a need for positive, creative activities and community involvement so we can come together and support each other.

We believe that this is the time to invest in and grow our creative community – to work to make sure that young people are not left behind or excluded from the opportunities that the South West has to offer. We know that there are many ways of coming together, developing our potential, skills and abilities, and helping and supporting one another – and the COVID pandemic has highlighted the challenge we all face when we are working out how to make the best of our lives.

Creative Community.

Our overall vision is to create a strong, resilient, open-minded and sharing community where young adults have opportunities that inspire and motivate them to both explore their creative potential and flourish in the wider community. The creative arts are at the heart of what we do and we aim to facilitate mentorships with inspirational figures and build connections and partnerships to motivate and galvanise action. Our creative and practical workshops in activities such as printing, drawing, writing, dance, poetry, photography, life skills, fitness, music and more in a communal setting will invite interaction, support, discussion, friendship and socialising.

Open To All.

We work hard to fundraise to ensure that our programmes and counselling are free of charge. We recognise that many of our potential participants do not have the means to pay and we are determined that there should be no financial barriers to taking part in what we have to offer. Our current base is in Bude and in order to offer access to in-person events we have available a hardship fund to those who are unable to meet transport costs.
